Double You, Tea F. vol. 94

Brainmares vol. 10

i'm dating Nana Raepblossom. she argues with my uncle about movies and leaves before i can properly introduce her to my parents. I'm at a compound that resembles a blend between an ornate subway station and a giant shopping mall, but it's a school owned by Blockbuster. I'm graduating, and at the stroke of midnight during the ceremony i'm told by Tall Man from Phantasm that if my love for my classmate (Stephanie Tanner from Full House) skews my speech, that i'll pay. I have no idea what's going on and as he walks away i channel Joe Pesci, calling him every curse word i can think of. He walks away, shrinking, trying to look angry but only looking scared.

We are the Sprocket Holes vol. 127

Death Has A Taste And We Have Its Trailer. An Exclusive Early Look at AMER!

[Due to the plain and simple fact that I absolutely adore this film, this post will remain at the top of the page until midnight Sunday. New content will continue to appear below.]

Directorial duo Bruno Forzani and Helen Cattet just made my list of directors to watch for 2009 and now you get your chance to find out why. Twitch has just been given an exclusive early look at the full theatrical trailer for neo-giallo picture Amer and it is a dandy.

Desire has always been linked to one's look. And cinema too. Luis Buñuel knew that very well when he filmed the short of a razor over an eye with a detail shot. Hélène Cattet and Bruno Forzani recover this image in an experimental film with immaculate style. Someone watches a girl through a keyhole. The wind lightly lifts a woman's skirt as a group of men look on. The fantasy of a dress tearing. Composed of fragments -of eyes, lights, shadows, gestures-- and without dialogues, Amer delves into the life of Ana, always halfway between the real and the imaginary. A film of sensations, always shot skin-deep.

We are the Sprocket Holes vol. 126

A young girl walks along the street with a warm smile on her innocent face. Just then a Dwarf named Olaf (Torben Bille) appears, leading a yapping toy dog. The girl is intrigued and picks up the toy. The Dwarf grins at her as he leads her away to a sinister boarding house where he states "I have more toys upstairs". As the girl smiles at the toys spread out before her…the Dwarf smashes her in the head with his cane!

Peter (Tony Eades) and Mary (Anne Sparrow) are a young Couple down on their luck who arrive at the cheap boarding house looking for a place to stay. They are greeted by the weird alcoholic Mother of Olaf, Lila Lash (Clara Keller), who sports a disfiguring burn down her cheek, and are led up to their room. An evil glint is in the Mother's eye.

It turns out the Mother and Son are running a white slavery sex ring. Three girls are kept in a locked attic room, drugged up on heroin (which is procured from a toy seller called 'Santa Claus' who delivers the drugs in stuffed toys) where they await the arrival of their 'clients'. And it seems the pretty Mary is next on the list to swell the sex slave ranks...
