Brainmares vol. 12

face wrapped in a hood of black ace bandage. i peek through a hole and see the face of an asian women whose lips were frozen in an attempt to separate the right and left halves of her head. it seems living, but is still like a photo. i try to take the hood off, but i can't. the only thing i see is this face. i start screaming, but the screams are blocked by a ball bearing lodged in my throat. wake. ---- stuck in an orb at the center of the world reading pulp comic books. the writing is all in prose format, with alternating capital and lower case sentences. the stories comes alive as the characters move around, wondering where they are. from the outside, another orb opens its mouth and begins the engulf our orb. a pink metal tongue emerges from the orb that is eating us, licking the circumference of its food. ------ in a van with some people. a Sinatra song comes on the radio. a slow one... maybe "When i was 17". Myself and another passenger comment on how much the singer from Dead Can Dance sounds like Sinatra at his most mournful. wake.

Fuck YOUR Life vol. 9

oh boy.... more referential referencing references starring a bunch of never-will-bes and several Mad TV regulars doing piss poor imitations of people who actually have something approaching talent and/or screen presence. by the by, you know your movies are for shit if the only bright spots involve an increasingly lizard skinned Carmen Elektra and random cast members from fucking MAD TV, but i digress.

This is so fucking lame that it is breaking the universe. There cannot possibly be ANYONE that finds these movies necessary, let alone amusing. What in the cock of hell's ass do Jersey Shore, Lady Gaga and Alice in Wonderland have to do with vampires? oh right, they're all things that happened in the last 12 months.

If there is a scene where Rorschach from Watchmen takes off his mask and reveals himself to be a Tom Cruise look-alike dressed like Les Grossman from Tropic Thunder (only way fatter and hairier and jeweir because that's totally hilarious) who leads the whole cast in a dance off to a Ludacriss song before they get hit in the head with KFC Double Downs, the producers have to give my blog a writing credit.

First Stills From Sion Sono's Serial Killer Thriller COLD FISH

by Todd Brown, July 5, 2010 12:38 PM

To say that the advance word on Sion Sono's Cold Fish is positive would be a bit of an understatement. Presented in an unfinished form in a strictly controlled, buyer's only market screening in Cannes, hardly anybody has actually seen the film yet but from those who have I've been told repeatedly that Sono's current streak continues unabated with Cold Fish topping even Love Exposure in terms of quality.

No trailer for it yet, unfortunately, but producers Sushi Typhoon have just launched their official website and include the first detailed synopsis of the picture plus a series of stills. Check them out in the gallery below!

Shamoto runs a small tropical fish shop and leads a boring, but stable life. His second wife, Taeko, does not get along with his daughter, Mitsuko, and this worries him. He also feels somehow unfulfilled and dissatisfied with what his life has become.

One day Mitsuko is caught shoplifting at a department store. There they meet a friendly man named Murata, who helps to settle things between Mitsuko and the store manager. Since Murata also runs a tropical fish shop, Shamoto establishes a bond with him and they become friends; Mitsuko even begins working for Murata and living at his house, to avoid conflicts with her stepmother.

What Shamoto doesn't know, however, is that Murata hides many dark secrets behind his friendly face. He sells cheap fish to his customers for high prices with his artful lies. If anyone detects his fraud or refuses to go along with his money-making schemes, they're murdered and their bodies disposed of by Murata and his wife in grisly ways. Shamoto is slowly taken in by Murata's tactics, and by the time he realizes that Murata is insane, and a serial killer who has made over fifty people disappear, he is powerless to do anything about it. But now Mitsuko is a hostage at Murata's home, and Shamoto himself has become the killer's unwilling accomplice!

Meanwhile, the murders, without any trace of the bodies, continue unabated. The police have long suspected Murata and try to get information about him from Shamoto; Murata quickly senses the danger and threatens Shamoto not to report anything to the police.

In the end, the conflict between Shamoto and Murata will result in murder, insanity, and an ordinary man being driven to the edge of the abyss.

Nice to see Sushi Typhoon releasing something besides another Tokyo Gore Police knock off. Don't get me wrong.. i dig that movie and everything, but it doesn't have a lot of replay value, and we really don't need 28 more films in that mold.

Fuck YOUR Life vol. 8

trailer for the American Remake of LET THE RIGHT ONE IN

Production

The rights for the English language film adaptation were acquired at the 2008 Tribeca Film Festival, where the original won the "Founders Award for Best Narrative Feature," and Matt Reeves was quickly introduced as the director.[12] Hammer Films producer Simon Oakes referred to the project as a remake of the film and not an adaptation of the novel.[5] The decision to make a new film adaptation has been criticized by Tomas Alfredson, the director of the Swedish film. He has stated on numerous occasions that he is not in favor of remaking his film.[13] "If one should remake a film, it's because the original is bad. And I don't think mine is", he said.[14] Writer Ajvide Lindqvist, on the other hand, says that Reeves "will make a new film based on the book, and not remake the Swedish film" and so "it'll be something completely different, but it's going to be really interesting to see."[15]

Reeves has expressed his intent to retain the book's early 1980s setting and his admiration for the book and Alfredson's adaptation. "It's a terrific movie and a fantastic book. I think it could be a really touching, haunting and terrifying film . I'm really excited about what it could be", he said. ("could"??? howbout ALREADY IS, you urine brained cunthead - N.) [16] In response to the criticism he said, "I can understand because of people's love of the [original] film that there's this cynicism that I'll come in and trash it, when in fact I have nothing but respect for the film. I'm so drawn to it for personal and not mercenary reasons ... I hope people give us a chance."[17]

When Reeves was initially approached, he at first was against the idea but after reading the novel gained a better appreciation for the story. "I said... that we shouldn't remake it. I read the book too and was completely taken with it and I was really intrigued how personal the story felt. I thought John Lindqvist had written this terrific story, and he also adapted it for the film... I wrote Lindqvist and told him that it wasn't just that I was drawn to the story because it was a brilliant genre story – which it is – but also because of the personal aspect of it. It really reminds me of my childhood."[18]

Reeves was also asked to change the ages of the main characters, but he refused, saying that "would ruin the essence of the story and change everything completely...we need that childlike innocence." He also told his actors to not watch the original film beforehand so "we could make our own version but stay very true to the essence of the story."[18] The filmmakers have noted that "they intend to forge a unique identity for Let Me In, placing it firmly in an American context", while at the same time paying respect to the original.[2]

Principal photography began in Albuquerque, New Mexico on November 2, 2009.[2][19] Filming is scheduled to take place in several different New Mexico locations, before concluding in Albuquerque in January 2010.[2][20] A large section of the film is being filmed at Los Alamos High School in Los Alamos, New Mexico.

Tomas Alfredson, director of Let the Right One In, has expressed his disappointment with this film, stating "remakes should be made of movies that aren't very good, that gives you the chance to fix whatever has gone wrong. I'm very proud of my movie and I think it's great, but the Americans might have another opinion. The saddest thing for me would be to see this beautiful story made into something mainstream. I don't like to whine, but of course – if you spent years on painting a picture, you'd hate to hear buzz about a copy even before your vernissage!" [21]

this is retarded. the original is only like 2 years old, and it's perfect. if subtitles bother you that much, there is an English Dub track on the DVD. Why bother wasting time and money on a half-ass clone that white washes over the gender issues and replaces them with generic serial killer junk?

"oh but it looks faithful to the original". GO SEE THE ORIGINAL. the DVD is like 9.99 @ Target. stop being mongoloids and cease your support of this garbage. and the fucking hole-ass from Cloverfield? that's like re-recording Zola Jesus' Stridulum with Ke$ha.

Nicolas Lopez Declares F*CK MY LIFE!

by Todd Brown, July 1, 2010 12:00 PM

Chile's Nicolas Lopez - the director of cult hits Promedio Rojo and Santos - is back. And he's feeling romantic. And possibly a little bit drunk.

Declaring Que Pena Tu Vida - in English the less elegant sounding Fuck My Life - his Chasing Amy or High Fidelity, Lopez has created a romantic comedy for the Facebook age. It's a film filled with digital fingerprints left by its unemployed hero's former lovers, at least one of whom is so fertile that she declares she will get pregnant if she so much as steps on a used condom.

With its Chilean release coming soon the official trailer is being attached to prints of the latest Twilight film when it releases locally and I can just imagine what the Twilighters are going to make of this. But no need to travel to Chile! We've got your exclusive first look at the English-friendly version of the trailer here for you now! Check it below!

so now you're stealing ideas from my blog that i stole from a random Superbad quote?
